The Piolets d'or are an annual event that recognizes exceptional alpine climbs achieved in the previous year. These distinctions have been awarded since 2009 by the Groupe de Haute Montagne (GHM) and specialized French magazines such as Montagnes Magazine and Vertical, then by the GHM only from 2016.
